- A two-bedroom Etobicoke move runs $750–$1,050 in labour, plus truck & travel and HST.
- You pay an hourly crew rate with a 2-hour minimum, billed in half-hour increments, plus a flat truck and travel charge.

- The written quote is the price you pay, and it is confirmed before the crew is dispatched.
How much does it cost to move in Etobicoke?
Labour for a two-bedroom move in Etobicoke is $750–$1,050, plus truck & travel and HST. Smaller and larger homes move up and down from there, based on crew size and the hours the job takes.
The table below shows our published labour ranges by home size. Each range is the usual crew multiplied by the typical hours for that size. It does not include the flat truck and travel charge or HST, and it assumes both addresses are in the GTA on a standard date.
| Home size | Typical crew hours | Usual crew and rate | Labour range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio | 2–3 hours | 2-mover crew at $120/hour | $240–$360 |
| One bedroom | 3–5 hours | 2-mover crew at $120/hour | $360–$600 |
| Two bedroom | 5–7 hours | 3-mover crew at $150/hour | $750–$1,050 |
| Three bedroom | 7–9 hours | 3-mover crew at $150/hour | $1,050–$1,350 |
| Four bedroom | 9–12 hours | 4-mover crew at $190/hour | $1,710–$2,280 |
Labour only. Add the flat truck & travel charge and HST.
These are ballparks, not a quote. Your actual hours depend on how much you own, how it is packed, and how far the crew has to carry it. To test your own numbers, the cost estimator gives a ballpark by home size and crew.
If you are weighing movers for a specific neighbourhood, our Etobicoke movers page covers how we work across the area, from The Kingsway to Mimico and Long Branch.
How is an Etobicoke move priced?
You pay an hourly rate for the crew, with a 2-hour minimum billed in half-hour increments, plus a flat truck and travel charge. HST goes on top.
The hourly rate depends on how many movers you need: $120/hour for a two-mover crew, $150/hour for three movers and $190/hour for four. A bigger crew costs more per hour but usually finishes sooner, so the total for a large home is often close to what a smaller crew would charge for a longer day.
Because billing runs in half-hour increments after the 2-hour minimum, you pay for the time the job takes and not for a rounded-up block. A small move that wraps early is billed for the hours worked, not a full day.
What is included in every move
- Professional crew
- Moving truck

- Floor protection

Blankets, wrapping and floor protection are not add-ons. They come with every job, and we are insured on every move. For the full picture of a standard job, see our residential moving service.
What makes an Etobicoke move cost more or less?
Home size, crew size and the date matter most, followed by the building you are moving in or out of. Elevators, long carries and a second address outside the GTA all add time or cost.
Etobicoke is a mix of housing, and each type moves differently. Our crews handle Humber Bay Shores high-rises, Kingsway detached homes and Mimico semi-detached moves with equal familiarity, but the work is not the same.
- High-rise condos (Humber Bay Shores, Mimico): the hours depend on elevator access, loading dock rules and how long the carry from unit to truck takes.
- Detached homes (The Kingsway, Markland Wood, Eringate): more rooms and more belongings mean more hours and often a bigger crew.
- Semis and townhouses (Alderwood, Long Branch, New Toronto, Islington Village, Royal York): stairs and driveway access shape the time more than the floor area does.
A lost elevator slot costs more than the inconvenience, because the clock keeps running while the crew waits. One customer described what happened when their building's elevator fell through:
“My service elevator got postponed last minute. They waited 4 hours until it was reinstated and then expedited the job. Stellar attitude, nothing scratched or broken. I even got a one hour discount even if they weren’t to blame.”
Manny Morin, Google review
Booking the elevator early, and having a second window in hand, is the cheapest way to protect your hours.
Does the date or season change what you pay?
Yes. Rates assume a standard date, and month-end dates are priced higher. Moves with one address outside the GTA are also priced higher.
Demand clusters around the same days for everyone. On our completed moves, 34% of moves (sample of 276) fall on the last four or first two days of a month. That is why those dates carry a higher price and why crews and elevators are hardest to book then.
Weekends are just as popular. On our completed moves, 34% happen on a Saturday or Sunday, so a weekday move away from the month turnover is the easiest way to get a standard-date price and a wider choice of times.
Season matters too. On our completed moves, our three busiest months are January, August and June, and our three quietest are November, May and October. If your lease or closing date is fixed, none of this helps. If you have a choice, a quiet month and a mid-month weekday give you the most room.
Does a winter move in Etobicoke cost more?
The rate does not change for winter, but the job can take longer and the building may set extra rules. Salt, slush and short days all slow a crew down.
Winter moving in Etobicoke means wet, salted floors in lobbies and corridors, and buildings protect those floors closely. Careful setup is part of the job, and it is part of why a winter move should be planned with a little extra time.
Check the forecast on Environment Canada a few days ahead, and read our winter moving tips for clearing the path and protecting your belongings. A shovelled, salted entrance saves minutes, and minutes are billed in half-hour blocks.
How do you know the price will not change on move day?
Get the price in writing before the crew is dispatched. Our written price is the price you pay, and quotes are free with no obligation.
Every price we give is confirmed in writing before the crew leaves, and the written price is what you pay. The Government of Ontario's page on hiring a mover lists what to ask and what to get in writing, and it applies to any company you speak to.
Ask each mover the same four things: the hourly rate for your crew size, the minimum hours, the flat truck and travel charge, and whether HST is included. A quote that leaves any of these out is not comparable to one that states them.
“Movers4You made my move so easy! The team was punctual, friendly, and handled everything with great care. No hidden fees—just a smooth, stress-free experience.”

How can you lower the cost of an Etobicoke move?
Move on a standard date, be packed before the crew arrives, and secure your elevator and parking in advance. Each one cuts billable hours or avoids a higher-priced date.
- Pick a mid-month weekday if your dates are flexible, to avoid month-end pricing.
- Finish packing before the crew arrives. Boxes taped and labelled move faster than open drawers.
- Reserve the service elevator and a loading spot with building management, and ask for a backup window.
- Clear pathways and doorways so the crew carries straight to the truck.
- Keep both addresses inside the GTA where you can, since a second address outside it is priced higher.
If you are short on time to pack, our packing services can do it for you, though that adds labour. For a handful of items or a studio, small moves may be the better fit than a full crew.
A printable moving checklist keeps the week before the move in order. When you are ready for a firm number, request a free written quote and we will confirm the price in writing before dispatch.
